The Rune of the Day: Mannaz

Mannaz is the rune of cooperation, of inter-connectivity, of humanity.  This rune really speaks to how everything, and everyone, in the universe influences everything, and everyone else.

The smile you give someone on the street today, may be the only kind thing they've seen all day, it may be the one thing that reminds them there is still good in life.

Today is a good day to reach out to others, with a smile, a kind word, an offer to help, or a request for help if you need a hand.  Don't forget, helping others, even in small ways, boosts our mood!

Tarot Card of the Day: 9 of Pentacles

The 9 of Pentacles is the card of financial or material well-being, but it also shows the money being released.  Its a card of sharing your blessings, not hoarding them.  It has always resonated with me as a card of overall well being, financial, spiritual and physical.

It also represents an appreciation of nature, taking the time to enjoy things in life-not just what we own, but also all the natural wonder around us. This is a perfect time of year for this card-sunsets, sunrises, leaves changing colors, there is so much to enjoy in nature right now, regardless of our financial status.

Today would be a great day to just take the time to enjoy your blessings, and share them with others.  Sometimes just sharing your wonder at something is enough to open up a whole new world for yourself or someone else!

Rune of the Day: Wunjo

Wunjo is the rune of happiness, joyfulness, and new energy!! With today being Monday, we can all use a little Wunjo.  This is a great day to start new project while basking in the glow of having successfully completed the old one.   Take time today to really notice and enjoy all the many blessings, both great and small, in your life!

Tarot Card of the Day:

The Star is the card of hope and inspiration.  When this card is drawn for you, it means that you have everything you need to make your (reasonable) dreams come true.  Today would be a great day to try something new, to go for your dreams, to try to touch the sky!

Rune of the Day: Thurisaz

Thurisaz is a rune of self-examination, of taking the time to really work on yourself.  Today would be a great day to examine what does and doesn't work in your life and find the changes you need to make within yourself to make things better for yourself!

Tarot Card of the Day: Ace of Cups

The Ace of Cups signals a new start in a relationship.  This opens so many possibilities-a new romantic relationship, a new friendship, or a new beginning to an old relationship: romantic, friendly, or even family!  I remember this was my card of the day when my sister and I got back in touch after being out contact for several years!  (Totally my fault we were out of touch btw).

Just be open to what comes your way today, you may be pleasantly surprised!

Friday's Rune for the Day: Sigel

Sigel is the rune of success, enlightenment, and good fortune.  Basically, when sigel appears, things are really coming up roses for you!!  A harbinger of a very good day!

My apologies for this post being late, apparently I don't understand the schedule mechanism as well as I thought I did!! LOL  I'm learning, I'm learning, I promise!

Friday's Tarot Card for the Day:

The Three of Cups is a very nice complement to the rune of Sigel!  This card represents a solution to a problem, an acceptable compromise, fulfillment.  Its the card of finding a way to get enough of what you want to be happy.

Rune of the Day: Eihwaz

Eihwaz is a rune of protection, though that protection frequently comes in forms we may not like.  Often, it represents release from a situation, or the end of a relationship.  These are often painful events: evictions, divorces, losing one's job, but they happen for a reason-to protect us from something worse.

It is very important when unpleasant things happen to do what is right in the situation, not necessarily what would make us happy in that moment.  Know that better things are coming, and that though change is frequently painful, it does open the door to great improvement!

Tarot Card of the Day: 10 of Cups-Reversed

The 10 of Cups (Reversed) represents disagreements in relationships, things not going well.  It also represents putting on a show, pretending everything is better than okay, when in reality it is kind of falling down around you.

Know that all relationships have their rocky times, nothing is always happy or perfect.  Its staying and working things out in the bad times that builds strong relationships that last a long time.

October 2nd-Random Thoughts on the Shutdown

Rune of the Day:

Dagaz is a rune of success and transformation.  Today is a day to look at things from a new perspective and be open to changing them based on what you see.  You might be surprised how much you really have when you look at it from someone else's point of view!

Just because its my blog and I get to vent on it!

Really, what is our Congress thinking-Oh wait! They're politicians, they don't think; apparently,  they just have temper tantrums.

The current shutdown of the government so reminds me of 5-year olds at play.  If you don't put down that toy, and play with what I want, I'm going to break ALL your toys.  Same principle, just on a larger scale.

As a side note to the Republicans, who obviously don't think the health of the citizens of this country is worth concerning themselves with.  Does the fact that the exchanges that opened on October 1st were overwhelmed with demand from people seeking affordable insurance mean anything to you?  Probably not, if what the people wanted mattered, the government wouldn't be shut down in the first place.

I really have to wonder who didn't think ahead on this: the last time they delayed raising the debt ceiling, the credit rating of our country went down just because the people that decide those things worried about the lack of cooperation in our government.  I can't wait to see what this partial shutdown, and the inevitable refusal to raise the debt ceiling on October 17th  will do to that credit rating.  It may soon end up worse than mine!

Tarot Card of the Day:

The 8 of Pentacles is a card of hard work and personal effort.  Try to learn something new today, even if its just a new word!  Or, combine this with Dagaz, the rune of the day, and try to learn something new about yourself today: maybe a dream you've always been afraid to dream, or a fear you've never put into words.

October Runescopes

Aries: The Rune of Nied
Nied represents dealing with severe constraints, sometimes of our own making.  It can also symbolize reality being clouded by your own worries and fears.

This will be a particularly trying time for Aries, who are not known for their patience at the best of times! October is a time to take things slowly, examine them carefully, and see what is really holding you back.

Although Aries usual tendency is to just force right through any obstacles, Nied tries to teach you a lesson. Frequently it is patience, but sometimes it is there to show you that you must let go of the things you have been clinging to that hold you back.

Taurus: The Rune of Thurisaz
Thurisaz is a rune of delay and of self-examination.  It frequently means that any work done is not going to be visible right away; sometimes what needs to be done is just to create a barrier to chaos that will protect you in the future.

Taureans this is a good month to really evaluate yourself. Remember, there is no gain without pain, so examine the good as well as the bad.  Take what you can from your past, then bless it and let it go.

Look at the good and the bad within yourself and decide what you need to work on most.  At the same time, acknowledge and truly appreciate the good within yourself, and know that by working on that which is less than ideal, you will help prevent future problems.

Gemini: The Rune of Ing
Ing is a rune of new beginnings, a new openness and a new willingness to trust.  This rune frequently shows the possibility of a new relationship.

Freedom-loving Geminis frequently are so busy seeking knowledge and adventure that relationships go by the wayside.  They love their freedom and don’t want to be stuck in any kind of routine.

Ing offers new beginnings and a release from a closed state-especially where relationships are concerned.  October just may offer some new relationship possibilities that are different from the usual; perhaps someone willing to embrace your need for variety.

Cancer: The Rune of Dagaz
The Rune of Dagaz symbolizes an epiphany, a clarity born of new understandings.  Dagaz also frequently represents security in one’s life.

For moody, frequently oversensitive Cancer, Dagaz represents a month of almost emotional freedom.  You should be somewhat more empathetic than normal this October, with a real clarity of understanding other’s feelings.  This understanding will help you avoid taking things so personally.

This will also be a month of things just going well for Cancers, probably because not being as sensitive emotionally allows you to go with the flow and enjoy life more.

Leo: The Rune of Jera
Jera is the rune of perseverance, of finally obtaining a well-earned reward.  Success is represented by Jera, but definitely not overnight success; this is a success that has been a long time coming. However, it is also the rune that urges patience; truly this rune’s motto could be ‘Good things come to those who wait’.

For energetic Leo, this month is a bit of a mixed blessing.  Those things you have been working towards are finally happening, but probably not fast enough for you. (Of course!)

By all means take credit for what you have worked for, and know that you will eventually have the spectacular outcome you wanted. Try to enjoy the rewards you are reaping this month, know that there is more to come, just not on your timetable!

Virgo: The Rune of Ing
Ing is a rune of new beginnings, a new openness and a new willingness to trust.  This rune frequently shows the possibility of a new relationship.

For detail-oriented Virgo Ing is almost like a shot in the arm.  It represents a new energy, new beginnings, especially in creative projects.

Ing also frequently represents a release of tension and uncertainty; for Virgo this month that means all of your analysis and attention to detail will finally pay off, most likely with the successful completion of one project leading directly to your next endeavor.

Libra: The Rune of Mannaz
The rune of Mannaz means cooperation, the collective good, new career opportunities, and major growth.

All-in-all it’s looking like a good month for Libra!  The value that you put on partnerships and relationships will be especially important this month, when cooperation will lead to new opportunities both on the job and on the personal front.

Just take the time to really reflect on any openings that come your way this month, and make sure that they are really what you want.  It’s easy to get caught up in the pretty wrapping, make sure there’s some substance to the choices you make.

Scorpio: The Rune of Ansuz
The rune of Ansuz represents communication that sometimes leads to new starts, information that changes your life, new paths, and is a warning to expect the unexpected.

For Scorpio, who loves to take control and get to the bottom of things, this rune signifies success in your quest for knowledge.  It also means new starts to be made after you have the knowledge, whether inner or outer, that you have been seeking.

It is most important, however, for oh-so-private Scorpio to understand that this knowledge comes from communication, and communication is a two-way street.  Although you will find the answers you have been looking for, you will have to share at least some of yourself in the process.

Sagittarius: The Rune of Sowelo
Sowelo is the rune of good fortune, success, warmth, enlightenment, wholeness, vitality, even a possible relocation.

For travel-loving Sagittarius Sowelo is practically the ideal rune.  It bodes opportunities appearing no matter where you may travel to, as well as acceptance upon your arrival in almost any location.  Indeed, with Sowelo’s energy beside you, even failures produce new opportunities that can be very successful.

Whatever ventures you’ve recently been working on, or thinking about, now are the time to go full steam ahead.  Even if something doesn’t work out, the very failure will lead you to your next, more successful, adventure.

Capricorn: The Rune of Tir
The rune of Tir represents sacrifice, sometimes self-sacrifice, for the greater good, honor, justice, victory and balance.

Capricorn, while very hard-working is also willing to use anyone and anything at hand to accomplish what they set out to do.  Tir reminds you to make sure that these sacrifices are for the good of all, not just the few.

This would be a good month for Capricorns to take an internal inventory and to let go of whatever is holding you back, painful though that parting may be.  Tir wants to see you succeed, but you must do what is right for the big picture to truly access its energy.

Aquarius: The Rune of Raidho
The Rune of Raidho signifies travel, communication, a union or reunion.  Raidho is all about the journey, not the destination.

For Aquarians October is a good month to focus on removing the obstacles in your path.  Don’t worry about where you’re going once they are removed, just focus on getting the blockages out of your way. You are nearing your goals, but rushing at this time could lead to a costly delay.

For relationships though, this is the time to make your move.  Reach out to that special someone, and let them know how you feel.  Raidho is especially significant in reestablishing contact with those whom you’ve lost touch. Call that old friend, or send flowers to your ex, you may just be pleasantly surprised.

Pisces: The Rune of Jera
Jera is the rune of perseverance, of finally obtaining a well-earned reward.  Success is represented by Jera, but definitely not overnight success; this is a success that has been a long time coming. However, it is also the rune that urges patience; truly this rune’s motto could be ‘Good things come to those who wait’.

For sensitive Pisces, Jera brings the satisfaction of knowing you have done enough, that your best really was more than good enough. Although rewards may come slowly, you will see them coming this month.

The dreams you have been working towards begin to come to fruition.  Although it will take perseverance and patience to finish obtaining them, Jera signifies that you are well on your way.
