 HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Rune of the Day: Ehwaz

Ehwaz is a rune of change, of movement , and new attitudeThis rune represents self-change, a new direction in your life.  Occasionally these are big changes; marriage, a new partnership, a relocation.  Far more often, they are smaller changes that nonetheless can change your whole life.

It may be the start of a diet, a new haircut or hair color, the ending of a bad habit, or the start of a good one.  It can be a move to a new dwelling in the same area, but one better-suited to you.

When Ehwaz appears its always a good time to make any or all of the changes you have been thinking about making in your life.  Big changes or small, today is the day to go ahead and start them; knowing the energy of the universe is especially strong with you today.

Tarot Card of the Day: Empress

The Empress is the card of fertility, of creation, of accomplishment, practicality and intuition.

When the Empress appears know that you can do almost anything you set your mind to, and that the projects and goals you have been working toward will be accomplished soon.  She is the harbinger not just of success around the corner, but of blessings for good ideas that may just be taking hold in your thoughts.

The Empress also, of course, is the card of actual fertility and motherhood, the card of feminine progress and advancement.  This advancement may take any form: career, personal, family-wherever you choose to focus your energy you will find advancement.  Depending on what the Universe has in mind for you, you may find advancement in areas you really weren't expecting also.

Just know that any energy or creativity sent your way via the Empress is something you're meant to have at this time, and definitely something you can handle!

  Ehwaz and the Empress Together

The two of these together, to me, are pretty much self-explanatory.  Today is a great day to start something new, especially something that will help you improve yourself.

With today being the start of the Wiccan New Year that's just added incentive to do something for yourself to make this year better.
For myself my goals are:

1. Daily exercise
2. Daily meditation
3. Daily journaling

Although I do all of the above, unfortunately nowhere near as regularly as i should, today is the day to start changing all that.  I can't wait to see what changes this brings to me over the course of the next year!

Feel free to add your own goals for the coming year in the comments!

Blessings!

Rune of the Day: Eolh (Reversed)

Eolh Reversed is a rune of sacrifice for no gain, of failure, sometimes of ill health. Generally this is seen as a negative rune, or perhaps a rune of warning. So today is probably a very bad day to play the lottery!! lol

As a rune of caution or warning it must be heeded.  When this rune appears, make sure you don't have all your eggs in one basket, that you aren't counting on one particular thing to work.  Have a back-up plan in case things don't work out as you want.   Make sure to take care of your health, take it easy if you're feeling run down, go to the doctor if you really don't feel well at all.

So very little of our lives is set in granite, we can almost always change potential outcomes if we change what we are doing. This rune, when reversed, very clearly says you need to change something you are doing. Although things still may not work out as you would like, if you have made some changes, then these setbacks or failures may open up new opportunities to you.  Perhaps just by having another alternative you'll have found a better path to take.

Tarot Card of the Day: Page of Pentacles (Reversed)

The Page of Pentacles Reversed generally represents a more unrealistic person, someone who is more of a dreamer than a realist. Its also usually someone unwilling to accept facts that don't fit their own preconceived ideas, someone very closed-minded.

When this card appears it may be a warning that you will have to deal with someone like this today, someone who probably is not going to listen to anything that they don't agree with.  That would make today a day to be creative, to find a way to get this person to at least acknowledge another point of view or possibility.

Conversely, this card may be telling you that you need to take another look at things, possibly change your expectations of a given situation.  Plan for a different outcome than what you expect, try to look at something from the point of view of the other person in the situation and with their expectations.

Eolh (Reversed) & Page of Pentacles (Reversed) Together

I find it very interesting that both the rune and tarot card of the day are saying to rethink one's beliefs, to change one's expectations.  Although both are saying that things probably aren't going to be what you're hoping for, that doesn't necessarily mean things have to end in disaster.

Sometimes, from the ashes of great failure, comes great success like the phoenix rising again.  But before that success can be found, one must be open to it, and be willing to look beyond the failure.  This is always easier to do if you don't have everything riding on one particular outcome.  Be open to other outcomes today, find something positive in them, and you can turn a seeming failure into a huge success.

Blessings!

Rune of the Day: Jera

Jera is a rune of earned success, harvest, patience being rewarded.  With Jera there is no quick attainment of goals; you receive what you have worked for, but not until everything is done.

Jera historically represented a one year turn around, as with crops.  Although many things are faster today, Jera still represents a slower success, a gain that has been earned and worked for.  Patience is essential when Jera appears: you will get what you have been working for, but not right away.

If Jera appears when you are just starting a new project, then your outcome is practically guaranteed to be favorable, just not speedy!!  If it appears near the end of a project, know that you will have the successful outcome you have been working for.

Tarot Card of the Day: Ace of Pentacles

The Ace of Pentacles represents new beginnings, usually financially, but it can also represent a new found spiritual wealth.  These new beginnings can take many forms: a new job, a promotion or raise, a source of second income or sudden or found wealth.

Although most frequently this card represents the beginning of a long term financial change such as a new job or promotion; sometimes it does represent a sudden influx of wealth.  Now, wealth is relative, it may mean a $10 win on a $1 lottery ticket, or it may mean finding an Antiques Roadshow worthy piece of furniture at a garage sale.

Sometimes, this does represent the beginning of a new spiritual connection, perhaps contact with a previously unknown guide who can help you enrich your spiritual life.

This card represents a new beginning, be it material, spiritual, or both.  Its up to you to nurture that seed and bring it to blossom, or to neglect it and lose the opportunity to see what it can develop into.  Even the lowliest job can open doors, if you are truly doing your best to improve yourself and your situation.

Rune of the Day: Ansuz

Ansuz is the rune of communication and all that encompasses; new paths and opportunities, new understandings, closer connections, advice, even inspiration.

When Ansuz appears in a reading it is a sure sign that new information will be coming your way, information that you need to pay attention to. Frequently you hear something that opens your eyes to a new understanding with loved ones, or that gives you an idea of a new direction to focus your own energies on.

Ansuz also represents communication with, and connection with the Divine.  Spending some extra time meditating today may really help you receive the messages you have been hoping for!

Tarot Card of the Day: 4 of Swords

The 4 of Swords represents rest, solitude, replenishment.  Frequently this is a time of recuperation after illness or after a trying time.  Sometimes, its just that breathing space you need after a failed relationship or project before you're ready to try again.

Almost always though, the 4 of Swords appearing means you need to take some time for yourself, to spend some downtime just chilling, so to speak.  This downtime often comes after a setback or a difficult time in your life.  Take the time to lick your wounds if you need to, or to think about where you want to go from here.

As with Ansuz above, possibly spend some time meditating, clearing your mind, and listening to the messages you are meant to hear!

The Rune of the Day: Nied

Nied is a rune of delay, of obstacles and distress.  These challenges may be of our own making, or those that life gives us to help us grow.  And that is the key to understanding Nied.  Nied appears when we need to learn patience and acceptance, or something else particular to that certain situation.

The key to overcoming challenges is accepting them and dealing with them in a constructive manner instead of railing against them.  Frequently, just making the best of a bad situation instead of stressing out, will show whatever obstacle you're facing to be much less important than you may have originally thought.

When Nied appears it is necessary to stay focused on reality, and to not let one's imagination and distress rule the day.   Try imagining the absolute worst case scenario and how you would handle that-then realize that though unpleasant, the obstacles represented by Nied can indeed be handled, hopefully with some grace and a smile.

Tarot Card of the Day: Queen of Pentacles (Reversed)

The Queen of Pentacles Reversed represents a false gain, a false feeling of financial security.   It may also represent someone who does not have your best interests at heart, even though they seem to.   This is a card of contradictions between what seems to be and what is.

Likewise, this card can represent a person who is conflicted, one who is trying to look out for you, but who has other interests also; interests that may be at odds with your own.  When the Queen of Pentacles appears reversed, it is always a good idea to make sure your chickens have actually hatched before you count them.

Today would be a really good day to double check anything financial you might have going on-make sure your automatic deposits and payments are set up correctly, that you have the correct due dates on moneys owed.  Overall, just a day to really make sure financial matters are as you think they are.

Rune of the Day: Perthro (Reversed)

Perthro is the rune of unexpected gain, of being pleasantly surprised, of enjoying the mysteries of life.  Perhaps its not so surprising that this rune appears again this month, as we get closer and closer to Samhain, or Halloween.

Although today, as earlier this month, Perthro is reversed, that is no reason not to enjoy the mysteries that surround us each day: the changing colors of the leaves, the cold snap in the air, the possibility of frost, or even snow! on the ground.

With Perthro reversed today, gambling and games of chance are probably not the best ideas, but looking for the unexpected in the everyday, now that could lead to some true revelations today.   Look for the hidden, for the beauty in the things you usually don't notice, that may just be the message Perthro wants you to have for today.

Tarot Card of the Day: 7 of Cups

The 7 of Cups represents fantasy and daydreams, and wishful thinking.  All of these can be great things, they signify hope and imagination; but unfortunately, not reality.

When the 7 of Cups appears many times it is telling us that we are hoping for the impossible, tilting at windmills so to speak.  There is nothing wrong with hoping, or dreaming, just be careful not to confuse these with reality.

Today's message though, I really feel is to go ahead and engage your imagination and creativity: write a story-or just tell one, paint a picture, make something crafty whatever your particular means of expression is practice it today.  Try that project that just seemed too hard, or tell the tale that is too outlandish, enjoy your dreams and fantasies today!  After all, reality is always there waiting for us.

The Rune of the Day: Daeg

Daeg is a rune of success and transformation.  It signifies a new understanding of things, a new way of looking at them, so the success you feel may not be the same as what your original goals had been.

When you draw the rune of Daeg you can be sure that you will be experiencing a change, most likely of your own attitude or views on a situation.  This new clarity and illumination very frequently brings into focus the blessings and positive things you already have in your life.

Sometimes this clarity will show you exactly what is needed for you to reach a goal you have been working towards, or it will change your perspective regarding that goal, and usually, lessen the importance of reaching it unless it is something truly beneficial to you.

Tarot Card of the Day: Ten of Swords (Reversed)

The 10 of Swords-Reversed is a card of overcoming adversity, of things going well.  This card represents successfully taking on whatever challenges life has been throwing at you lately and triumphing over them!  Drawing this card
signifies overcoming obstacles, things going your way, definitely things improving.  Although the effects of overcoming any obstacles or challenges will be long lasting, that is not true of all gains associated with the reversed 10 of Swords.

Reversed, this card also can signify temporary gains, and momentary advantages.  So, although things may be going better, don't push your luck with this card-accept the good coming your way, don't try to capitalize on it.  If you come into extra money, buy something you need or save it, don't use it to play lottery or take any other chances with.   If your boss gives you a well-done, keep working hard, don't use it as an excuse to take a day off!

The Rune of the Day: Nied

Nied reversed is a rune of obstacles, of a need to change plans, of being so overwhelmed by negativity that one can't move on.  When this rune shows up, it is best to just take a step back, and wait for the dust in any given situation to settle.

Now is a good time to remember that 'it's always darkest before the dawn'.  Although things may look bad right now, know that any delays or obstacles are there for a reason.  Don't try to work around them, look at where they come from, and try to understand the reason behind them.

Patience is what's really needed today, know that what seems insurmountable today will, in time, look like just a small pebble in your path.

Tarot Card of the Day: Devil (Reversed)

The Devil reversed is a card of overcoming adversity, of ending situations that are not in your best interest.  Frequently it is necessary to ask for help in these endeavors; so often the Devil reversed represents cooperation and partnership in overcoming obstacles.

When this card appears for you, know that you are able to overcome the things in life that have been holding you back, that you can claim the life that you want, you can remake your reality so to speak.

Now would be a good time to take the first steps towards ridding yourself of all that which is holding you back from reaching your highest potential!

Rune of the Day: Uruz

Uruz is the rune of strength and vitality, of health and energy, of terminations with new beginnings in mind.  The runes definitely seem to be in agreement so far this week.  Wunjo yesterday, and Uruz today both speak of confidence, ability and the need to start something new.

With Uruz there may be a necessity of parting with something you've grown accustomed to, and/or comfortable with.   This can be anything from a portion of your income, to a habit that no longer appeals, to a favorite old chair or other 'security blanket'.   Know that with Uruz in your corner you will not be biting off more than you can chew, but you will be embarking on a journey of self-improvement that you are well-equipped to make.

Tarot Card of the Day: The World

The card of the World is the card of attainment, of happiness, much as it looks, its the card of 'being on top of the world.'  When this card appears for you know that things are going your way, that they are going to come out the way that you have been working for.

This is very much a card of accomplishing your goals, of reaping what you have sown. But just as the world is round, and the figure depicted is spinning around, so this is a card of cycles.  You have fulfilled your goal, and caught the brass ring.

Now it is time to find new challenges, to start new projects.  Take advantage of the energy and the goodwill you've created, and use it to start building something even better!

The Rune of the Day: Wunjo

Wunjo is a rune of happiness, inner peace, true security.  Since many people have today off, perhaps its a reflection of their contentment at being able to sleep in-the lucky dogs!! lol

As well as inner peace and contentment, Wunjo also represents new energy.  You have reached a point of completion in your journey when you see this rune; so, as with all things spiritual (or material), once you've reached a goal it is time to set a new one and start a new journey.

Today would be a great day to just enjoy where you're at in life and to think about where you want to go next, and how you want to get there.

Tarot Card of the Day: High Priestess

The High Priestess is the card of inner knowledge, of intuition, wisdom, common sense, sound judgment.  When this card appears for you,  know that as long as you use all the information you have, including your "gut" you will make the right decision.

It also represents the right decisions you have made up until now in your life.  Seeing the High Priestess is a really good indication that you are on the right path in your life, that overall you are headed in the right direction.

The Rune of the Day: Fehu

Fehu is the rune of disposable wealth, of cash, possessions, good luck, even of obtaining your goals or achieving your ambitions.  It can also be a warning rune, now is a good time to examine what you have in life and see if it came to you through hard work, or through less honest means.

The wealth shown by Fehu is meant to be shared, keep what you need, absolutely, but know that being greedy will cost you this good fortune in the long run.  Use some of your wealth, or luck, to help others so that it does not stagnate and go bad.

Tarot Card of the Day: Emperor (Reversed)

The Emperor (Reversed) signifies immaturity and ineffectiveness.  When this card appears for you, it generally indicates an area that is particularly difficult for you; one in which you just do not shine, or shimmer, or even sporadically blink! lol

Generally this card indicates either that you need to work on improving yourself in a particular area, or you need to just accept that you are not going to be good at everything and hire someone else to handle some things for you.

Since its Sunday, a day many people don't have to work, I'm going to recommend just taking it easy, sit back, enjoy family and friends, football, even the Walking Dead (if its your thing).  Remember, tomorrow is another day!

Rune of the Day: Perthro (Reversed)

Perthro is the rune of unexpected gains,  of blessings, and of enjoying the unexpected.  Today, however, Perthro is reversed.  Today is a day of caution, of being careful, dotting i's and crossing t's.

Perthro reversed can also signify unexpected losses, a reversal of gains.  It is primarily a rune of warnng, that the unexpected can be a bust as well as a boon. Tread carefully today, definitely look before you leap, or cross the road!

Tarot Card of the Day: 3 of Cups (Reversed)

The 3 of Cups (Reversed) is a card of broken relationships, ended friendships, alienation.  This does not have to be a bad thing however!  Today would be a great day to cut ties with people who drag you down, to start looking for new things to replace old ones that drag you down.

Hate your job? Start looking for a new one today! (you probably shouldn't quit the old one til you have a new one though, lol) Not happy with something in your life? Today is the day to look at how you can get those things out of your life.
Endings aren't always bad, its really good when we can put an end to the things that are dragging us down.

Rune of the Day: Ehwaz

The rune of Ehwaz represents change, progress, self-improvement.  When this rune appears you know it is a good time to make new starts, even to actually relocate.  Ehwaz is telling you its time to work on yourself, and your relationships, first; to really take that first step.

This rune is one of action, not reflection-if you know you need to get in shape, clean the house, mow the lawn, finish that project at work-whatever it is-today is the day to really put in some time on it.  Take the first step or devote a few hours, whatever works for you, but today is the day to make that effort, with Ehwaz energy working for you, any effort put out today is bound to be effective!

Tarot Card of the Day: Nine of Staffs (Wands)

The nine of staffs is a card of deception, of things not being as they seem.   When this card appears there are forces at work of which you are unaware.  Tread carefully, and know that not everyone you are dealing with is as honest as you are.

Be careful of taking on anything new, you may end up doing a lot more of the work than you are being led to believe.  All-in-all its probably not a good time to make any new commitments.

Rune of the Day: Perthro

The rune of Perthro represents unexpected gain, blessings of the Divine, things of a hidden nature.  This rune is often associated with gambling and games of chance.  Try focusing on the less mundane aspects of life today, be open to the unexpected; instead of stressing when things don't go according to plan, smile and go with the flow.  Perthro shows us that the unusual and the hidden is not always something to be feared, but many times something to be discovered and cherished.

Tarot Card of the Day: 6 of Pentacles

The 6 of Pentacles is a card of sharing and generosity.  Its a card that represents helping others but also being helped.  When this card appears in your spread, material goods will be plentiful, but they will come and go, though never leaving you short.   Today could be a day to look around and see what you have that you can share with others: flowers from the garden, a plate of homemade goodies, perhaps the clothes you no longer wear to a shelter-whatever it is, today is a great day to share just a little bit of what you have.  After all, it will come back to you when you least expect it.
