Rune of the Day Tir

Tir is a rune of nobility and honor, of justice and balance, of the greater good.

Today, again, we need to keep the big picture in mind and look at the potential consequences of our actions.  We need to do what is right for everyone, not just what is easiest for us.

There are always opportunities to take the easy way out and if it doesn't hurt anyone that is great.  But often, taking the easy way out harms someone else: usually someone we truly care about.  So think carefully today before making any decisions.  Then think again before acting on them.  When we are truly mindful of our actions and their consequences, we have much less to regret in life.

Tarot Card of the Day: Queen of Pentacles

The Queen of Pentacles is a card of generosity and abundance, of security; it often represents a generous soul.

Some people have more to give than others, and to some people, receiving a very little seems like the world.  Do what you can for others, even if its just  buying someone a soda or cup of coffee, or taking 5 minutes to listen to what they have to say without judging them.

That little bit of kindness, can change their whole perspective, and yours too.

The Two Together

Tir paired with the Queen of Pentacles reminds us that there can be too much of a good thing.  It's great to help others, but not at your own expense, and not to the point that you bring about in them an attitude of dependence.

Give someone a hand up not a handout.  That is the key message these two are giving us for today.

Rune of the Day:  Othala Reversed

Othala reversed is a rune of greed, wasted efforts, of feeling adrift, of not belonging.

Since Fehu was reversed yesterday there is the beginning of a pattern here.  This time of year finances are tight for many people, and a chance to make some quick money can seem very appealing.   Whether it's investments, or someone  suddenly offering you a good amount of money for something you own, do your research.

Don't make any financial decisions without researching them; talk to a professional if at all possible.  Although it may feel like you will never get caught up financially, taking a chance may end up putting you even farther behind.

Tarot Card of the Day: Ace of Cups

The Ace of Wands is the chance to do something new, something exciting, especially in an area that you devote a lot of time to.

Be on the lookout for new opportunities today, they are certainly coming your way.  Perhaps a new job offer, or a chance to do something profitable from home.  It may be a new class you could take that will help you advance your career, or to learn more about your passion.

The Two Together

Othala reversed represents the need to use caution despite the excitement that comes with the Ace of Wands.  We can sometimes get caught up in the excitement of a new opportunity, a chance to do something different that has always appealed to us.  Just take the time today to really think things through before making a decision.  It's easy to get caught up in the excitement of new things, and then find that we've overextended ourselves either financially, or time wise, or just energetically. So use caution, and make sure you are truly ready to take on a new endeavor.

Blessings!

Rune of the Day: Fehu Reversed

Fehu reversed is a rune of poor spending choices, of lack of success, of a person or an offer to be avoided.

Use caution when making decisions today, offers that seem too good to be true almost definitely are.  This is a day when it's easy to get sucked into something that seems like a great idea, but is actually a train wreck waiting to happen.

Tarot Card of the Day: Knight of Wands Reversed

The Knight of Wands reversed represents someone who is indecisive, who is easily swayed, someone not very sure of themselves.

It's not always easy to do the right thing, or to even know what the right thing is sometimes.  When facing a situation with no clear path, it's easy to opt to do nothing, or to take the path of lease resistance.

Often, just making a decision, any decision, is all that's required of us. It will always be the right decision in the long run: it will either better our situation, or it will teach something we need to learn.

The Two Together:

Fehu and the Knight of Wands, both reversed, are telling us that although we must be careful making decisions right now, we must still make those decisions.

Hesitation and inaction is as much a decision as jumping off a cliff without looking is.  We need to take action, sitting and watching life pass us by isn't really an option today.  We just need to examine our options, do our research, and make the best decision we can. No matter what we decide, it will be the right decision for us in the long term.

Blessings!

Pagan Blog Project B is for Bloodstone

Bloodstone is a very energetic mineral,  associated with the element of fire, and the planet Mars.  It is also fairly widespread, being found in India, the United States, Australia, China, Brazil, and Scotland.  The stone is actually comprised of green chalcedony with red iron oxide, or sometimes red jasper throughout.

Traditionally bloodstone has always been associated with power, and obviously, with blood.  Warriors would often carry bloodstone into battle with them to make them more powerful and to help stop the bleeding if they were injured.  Of course, since they used the stone to press on the wound, simple pressure may have had something to do with the stone's ability to stop bleeding!

With its green color bloodstone has often been associated with healing, including keeping blood healthy and stopping bleeding,  prosperity, and farming.

Bloodstone is frequently worn as an amulet to help promote general health, and in turn, to help one live longer.

It is also said to help ease menstrual difficulties and childbirth, and to prevent miscarriages.  The stone also helps to the system to clear infections and blockages more quickly.   Please do not consider using the stone in any healing capacity as an alternative to legitimate medical care.  Bloodstone is an assist to your body, not a cure, and is not intended to be a cure.

Bloodstone is also useful in ridding oneself of negative energies, of letting go of those things that distract or don't serve a positive purpose.  It seems to do this for both physical and emotional blockages.

One of the biggest boosts bloodstone gives to one's health is just from the energy the stone puts out-it helps to increase vitality and strength, to motivate, to really energize and focus one on taking better care of oneself.   Obviously, taking better care of oneself leads to better health; the stone is a motivator, an energy boost, not a magickal cure-all.

Carrying the stone, or keeping it in a cash register, draws money.  It is often used in business, money, and/or prosperity spells. Before industrialization it was often carried by farmers to promote a good crop since a healthy crop for a farmer equaled prosperity.

Bloodstone has also been associated with invisibility throughout the ages, rubbing it with the herb heliotrope is said to help one sort of magickally fly beneath the radar, to not be noticed.

Personally, I really love the energy of this stone, just having one with me that I can rub when I start to lose focus will remotivate me almost instantly

Blessings!

Rune of the Day: Raidho

Raidho is a rune of inevitable progress, but not necessarily of speed.  It signifies that the journey is more important than the destination; its all about removing obstacles and finding your path.

Pay extra attention to what people are telling you today, communication is very important with Raidho.  Often its open, honest communication that lets us reach our goals more easily.

Less clear communication, people (including ourselves) not being upfront about what they need and expect from others is often what slows us down in obtaining our goals.  So speak your mind today, tell people what you really mean, and know that doing so will bring your goals much closer to fruition.

Tarot Card of the Day: The Sun

The Sun is a card of success, of happiness, of fruition and reaching goals.

Try new things today, with the energy of the Sun working for us, they are bound to go well.  Take the time to really appreciate all that you have in your life, to notice the small blessings that are all around us.

The more we appreciate what we have, the more the Universe gives us to appreciate.

The Two Together

Both Raidho and The Sun speak of success, of obtaining our goals, Raidho, however, speaks more of the journey than the destination.

Know that with the energy of the Sun you will eventually reach your goals, take the time to appreciate your path though.  Whether things are going smoothly, or one is learning to overcome setbacks, progress is still being made.  By appreciating the knowledge we gain by surmounting obstacles, instead of complaining about the obstacles, we can make our journey much more pleasant.

It truly is all about attitude, and how we look at things, the Sun is telling us to look for the good in any situation, there is always something to be thankful for.

Blessings!

Rune of the Day: Perthro

Perthro is a rune of unexpected gain, of gambling and chance, of freedom from ordinary constraints, basically of being on a roll!

Take full advantage of the Perthro energy today, this is a day when things just all seem to fall into place for you.  Today is a day when taking a chance on something really pays off.

Just remember that when the Universe smiles on you like this, it's always good to share your blessings with those less fortunate; and it's never a good idea to push your luck.  The Universe has ways of bringing us crashing back down to earth if it feels we're taking advantage of its generosity.
Tarot Card of the Day: Queen of Cups Reversed

The Queen of Cups reversed is a card of someone wrapped up in their own life, not necessarily selfish, but more oblivious to the needs and wants of others.

Find some time to reach out to others today, to truly listen to what they say to you.  Many times just having someone listen makes our burdens easier to bear; and listening to someone else's problems is a great way to realize how fortunate we truly are.

The Two Together:

Perthro paired with the reversed Queen of Cups is telling us that no matter how well things are going for us personally, we need to take the time for others.

It's easy to get caught up in the joy of things working out the way we want them to, in the happiness of unexpected luck coming our way.  There's nothing wrong with enjoying our good fortune, just remember that not everyone is having such a good day.  Being just a little sensitive to others and their issues today helps us to truly appreciate our blessings!

Blessings!

Rune of the Day: Mannaz Reversed

Mannaz reversed is a rune of treachery, of deception and shallowness, of cynicism and hopelessness.

Many things in life, and many people are not what they seem-we all know this.  Today, those people will be pretty much right in your face.  The key is how you react to them.  You can't change other people; you can only change your reaction to them.

Strive for understanding today; forgiveness isn't necessary, but should never be ruled out as an option.  Try to look at the situation from the other person's perspective, and then do what is most soothing to your soul.  You might be surprised to find out that a little understanding goes a long way to keeping peace in your heart.

Tarot Card of the Day: High Priestess Reversed

The High Priestess Reversed is a card of hidden knowledge, of people keeping secrets.

Use caution today when relying on information other people have given you, especially people you don't know well.  This information may not be complete, some things may have been held back.  Often people use deception to protect  themselves, not because they are trying to hurt anyone else.

It's always best to double check facts, and today that is especially true.  Make sure you have all the information you need before making any decisions today, and that the information is accurate.

The Two Together:

Mannaz and the High Priestess both reversed, are warning us to use common sense today, to be on our guard with regard to what other people tell us.

We can never really know what another person has been through, and why they make the choices they make, but that doesn't mean we have to let others take advantage of us or use us.

Be careful when dealing with people today, especially those not familiar to you.  A bit of caution now can save a lot of aggravation in the long run

Blessings!

Rune of the Day: ANSUZ

Ansuz is a rune of communication, of inspiration, positivity, advice and life changing information.

Make time for the people who want to speak to you today, even those people you generally prefer not to spend time with.  Sometimes they are the very people that we most need to hear from-their perspective is so different from our own that they often notice things we never would.

Take the time today also to let others know what you are thinking and feeling.  Too often today, we don't take the time to reach out to others, or to make it clear what we need and expect from them.  This leads to hard feelings when they don't live up to our expectations.  The more clearly we communicate our needs and desires, the more likely we are to have them fulfilled.

Tarot Card of the Day 9 Of Cups Reversed

The 9 of Cups Reversed is a card of selfishness, of disregarding the needs of others in favor of oneself.

We all need time to ourselves, and to pamper ourselves every now and then.  Selfishness can sometimes be a good thing, if we are doing it to prevent ourselves from being overloaded; from taking on too much; from doing something that would harm ourselves.

There is also the selfishness of being petty or bitter.   Obviously, this is not a good thing, (lol) and telling the difference between the two is not always easy.  The reversed 9 of Cups today is a warning to double check our decisions, and our motivations, and make sure we are taking the high road.

The Two Together

Ansuz and its focus on communication, paired with the reversed 9 of Cups and its focus on selfishness indicates that today will be a day when open, honest communication is very important.

Truly understanding why you’re making a certain decision, even a selfish one, and letting others understand your reasoning make all the difference today.  A boss declining to give a raise because the company is doing poorly has a much less disgruntled employee than one who denies a raise because he wants more profits.

Be honest with yourself today about your motivation for doing, or not doing things; if you are honestly at peace with your decisions then you are on the right path.
