People are not always what they seem, some of them only have one priority: themselves. Although experiences with such people are painful, don't let them be what defines you. Becoming jaded, or focusing on the surface things in life just lessens you, it doesn't teach those that hurt you anything.

Disappointment is a part of life. Try to keep things in perspective; just because they weren't all that we expected them to be, doesn't necessarily make them
unpleasant. Sometimes we just have to accept that certain things are not meant to be and change what we are looking for.
The Two Together
Mannaz paired with the 3 of Cups reversed is telling us that people don't always live up to our own standards. Sometimes they are outright deceptive and only concerned with what they can get from us. We can't change people like that, only how we react to them. If we let them close us down, make us live in fear of being hurt, we let them win. It's a fine line between being cautious and being closed down, walk it carefully.
