We all remember the past differently, and often we forget many of the problems that we had at the time. Be careful not to be so caught up in your own romanticized version of the past that you let it color your expectations of the future. We can never recapture the past, and expecting anyone, or anything, to live up to an idealized memory is just setting the stage for disappointment.
The Two Together
The reversed 6 of Cups paired with Perthro is telling us to keep our expectations realistic. It's easy to think that when things are going well they will continue to go well, and to make plans, to try to regain lost ground, or recreate a happier time. The reversed 6 is reminding us that we can't go back, we need to focus on creating a new and brighter future instead of recreating a misremembered past.
